El Encanto Azusa River Wilderness Park

The Watershed Conservation Authority in collaboration with the City of Azusa purchased the former El Encanto Restaurant site in the City of Azusa in February 2006 for inclusion into the planned Azusa River Wilderness Park. This 40-acre property is located along Highway 39 in San Gabriel Canyon near the city's northern boundary at 100 Old San Gabriel Canyon Road, Azusa, CA 91702. View a map of this location (bottom of page). An aerial photo shows the purchased site (the lower area bounded in yellow) and potential future acquisition (upper area bounded in yellow).

A Master Plan has now been prepared for the Watershed Conservation Authority. The Nature Experience Plan is the adopted concept for El Encanto. The over-riding theme of the plan is to provide a place where the visitor can experience nature. This Master Plan consists of Site Programming, Site Planning and overall Site Concept Development. Download the Master Plan (253 page, 16.3 mb PDF file).

More recently, a 2-page brochure was prepared which provides a succinct look at the Master Plan. Download the brochure (2-page 1 mb PDF file).
